Aerosmith is embarking on a massive tour this year, performing at stadiums and arenas across North America and Europe. As one of the most iconic rock bands of all time, fans are eager to see Aerosmith live in concert. However, before Aerosmith takes the stage each night, audiences will be treated to an opening set by some great up-and-coming bands. So who exactly is opening for Aerosmith on this tour?
North American Leg Openers
For the North American leg of the tour, which runs from June through August, Aerosmith has selected four rock bands to open the majority of their shows:
- Dirty Honey
- Mammoth WVH
- Zach Myers
- The Garage Boys
Let’s take a closer look at each of these talented openers:
Dirty Honey
Dirty Honey is a young rock band from Los Angeles making waves in the rock community. Their sound draws influence from classic rock acts like Aerosmith, Guns N’ Roses, and Led Zeppelin. The band released their self-titled debut EP in 2019 and have opened for bands like The Who, Alter Bridge, and The Black Crowes. Dirty Honey will be opening most of the West Coast and Midwest Aerosmith tour dates.
Mammoth WVH
Mammoth WVH is the solo project of Wolfgang Van Halen, son of the late Eddie Van Halen. Wolfgang handles lead vocals, guitar, bass, and more for Mammoth WVH. Their sound has been described as powerful, high energy rock with a modern yet classic vibe. Mammoth WVH recently released their self-titled debut album in 2021. The band will be opening Aerosmith shows primarily on the East Coast and in Canada.
Zach Myers
Zach Myers is best known as the rhythm guitarist for the rock band Shinedown. However, he also has released several solo albums over the years. Myers will be opening a selection of Aerosmith shows in the Midwest as a solo act, providing audiences with his signature blend of pop, rock, blues and Americana flavored tunes.
The Garage Boys
Hailing from Detroit, the Garage Boys mix gritty rock riffs with garage and punk rock elements. This high-energy four-piece will help get audiences pumped up as they open about a dozen of Aerosmith’s tour dates, mostly in the South and on the East Coast. The Garage Boys are currently touring behind their latest album “Turn It Up.”
Europe Leg Openers
Things switch up a bit for the European leg of Aerosmith’s tour, which runs from late August through mid-November. Only two bands will support the majority of Aerosmith’s European tour stops:
- The Dead Daisies
- Quireboys
The Dead Daisies
The Dead Daisies are an Australian-American rock group formed in 2012. Their current lineup includes guitarist Doug Aldrich (formerly of Whitesnake and Dio), singer Glenn Hughes (formerly of Deep Purple and Black Country Communion), and drummer Tommy Clufetos (formerly of Black Sabbath and Ozzy Osbourne). The Dead Daisies mix classic rock elements with a contemporary hard rock sound. They’ll provide plenty of energy to get European crowds hyped as Aerosmith’s opener each night.
Quireboys
The Quireboys are a British rock band that came to prominence during the late 1980s and early 1990s. They’ve maintained a strong following ever since, especially in the UK. Singer Spike Gray’s bluesy, raspy vocals lead the way on the Quireboys’ Rolling Stones and Faces inspired original tunes and covers. The Quireboys have opened for Aerosmith previously and will get crowds in the UK and Sweden ready for another unforgettable concert experience this year.
Special Guest Openers
In addition to the main openers on Aerosmith’s tour, they’ve tapped a few other special guest artists to open select shows:
- Joan Jett and the Blackhearts (3 shows)
- Stone Temple Pilots (2 shows)
- Collective Soul (1 show)
Having these well-known rock acts open certain concerts adds even more value for Aerosmith fans. It’s not every day you get to see Joan Jett or Stone Temple Pilots share a bill with Aerosmith!
Conclusion
It’s clear Aerosmith and their management team put a lot of thought into curating an exciting mix of up-and-coming and established bands to open their shows on the group’s upcoming tour. While Aerosmith is obviously the main attraction, arriving early to catch the openers will be a worthwhile endeavor for concertgoers. The talented lineup of supporting acts will definitely get the crowd energized for an epic rock performance from one of music’s most beloved bands.
